The BANS-TAC is involved with providing information to a variety of people and organizations to increase awareness of the Bank Swallow and the habitats they depend on.

The Sacramento River, its habitat and Bank Swallows (Riparia riparia)

Lucas RossMerz, Executive Director for the Sacramento River Preservation Trust (Sac River Trust), will be bringing their River Road Show to the Altacal Audubon Meeting at the Chico Creek Nature Center on Monday, September 15th, at 6:30pm. Lucas' presentation will give a quick overview of the history of the Sacramento River and then focus the majority of the program on a very special avian species that lives and breeds in the banks of the mighty Sacramento River - the Bank Swallow (Riparia riparia). The Bank Swallow (Riparia riparia) Conservation Strategy for the Sacramento River Watershed, California has been released - June 2013

The conservation strategy was recently released (June 2013) by the BANS-TAC. This conservation strategy is based on the species needs and is intended to guide the preservation, protection, and restoration of habitat and natural river processes that support Bank Swallow populations in California. Bank Swallows and Incentives for Landowners along the Sacramento River

The Altacal Audubon has produced a website and brochure to help inform landowners about Bank Swallow ecology on the Sacramento River. The website provides interesting facts, video, images, and links and can be visited at www.bankswallows.org. The brochure is available here: (PDF)
