Location Description
This site is located at River Mile 168-R, just south of Butte City and Highway 162.
Site Description
This 399 acre unit, located in Glenn County, is owned by USFWS. The property consists of 269 acres of walnut orchard, 28 acres of restored riparian habitat, and 97 acres of existing riparian habitat.
Vegetation Wildlife
The existing riparian habitat consists mostly of mixed riparian forest, riparian scrub, and open water. The restored riparian habitat was allowed to undergo natural recruitment in 1996, producing a stand of arroyo willow, cottonwood, and box elder.
Current Land Use
The orchard will be maintained until restoration planning can be initiated and funding secured. Anticipated opening to public use will occur in 2010.
