This site is located at River Mile 186.5-R, approximately 12 miles south of Hamilton City.
Site Description
This 69 acre unit, located in Glenn County, is owned by USFWS. The property has 10 acres of walnut orchard and 59 acres of pre-existing riparian habitat.
Vegetation Wildlife
The existing riparian habitat consists mostly of cottonwood and mixed riparian forests, riparian scrub, some herbland and gravel bar. Special vegetation profiles include an old growth cottonwood stand and giant reed.
Current Land Use
The 10 acres of walnut will be maintained until restoration planning is initiated and funding secured; these 10 acres are anticipated to open to public use in 2010. The remaining 59 acres are open to the activities listed. Please visit sacramentovalleyrefuges.fws.gov for further details.
