This site is located at River Mile 198.5-L, directly east of Hamilton City and Highway 45, and just south of Highway 32.
This 564 acre unit, located in Butte County, is owned by USFWS. The property has 31 acres of fallow, 228 acres restored native grass, and 33 acres of existing riparian habitat.
The existing riparian habitat consists mostly of cottonwood riparian forest, with some riparian scrub and herbland cover. Special wildlife use includes juvenile salmonid rearing habitat in the adjacent Pine Creek.
Current Land Use
The 228 acres of restored native grass are currently closed to public use, but are anticipated to open in 2006. Hunting is only allowed on the 25 acres located in the south west corner of the unit, south of the levee. The remaining 336 acres are open to all other listed activities.
