Location Description
Six miles south of the town of Dunsmuir on Interstate 5.
Site Description
State park's main campground. Has three sections with campgrounds known as the lower loop, little loop, and upper loop. There is a vista point where there are photo opportunities. The campground has RV and trailer sites. There are many trails that lead to the river or to the unique geologic structures known as crags. The most popular trails are Indian Creek Trail, Castle Dome Trail, and Root Creek Trail. No off road vehicles, horses, bikes, or dogs allowed on trails. Open year round. There is a day use fee of $6 and a $15 camping fee. Many rock climbers are drawn to the area to scale the many unique geological structures that have formed. The area snows during winter months but the river can still be accessed for fishing. Use caution while using icy roads.
