Ten miles south of Dunsmuir. From Interstate 5 take Sims Flat exit east.
This area is a public campsite that is part of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. There are 20 tent sites, restrooms, and handicap access. There is a daily fee for using the facilities. Provides river access to the Upper Sacramento River as well as hiking opportunities on the Sims Historic Loop Trail. The trail features an old California Conservation Corp Camp, a turn-of-the-century logging mill site, an old school house and access to Hazel Creek. The Forest Service as well as the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) built the Pedestrian Bridge, which crosses the river at the entrance of the camp, in 1933. Known as the first project completed by the CCC.

Pine forest. Forest animals, such as the black tail deer, squirrels, mountain lions and brown bears. Rainbow and brown trout.

From Interstate 5 take the Sims exit. If heading northbound, take a right onto Sims road. If heading southbound, take a left. Cross the railroad tracks and the entrance will be on the right.
