Parking area that allows river access for fishing or swimming. It is also the access for Mossbrae Falls, which are some of the most dramatic falls in the area. This site is one of the most popular hiking areas. Near the falls there are also the Shasta Springs, which pour into the river. To reach the falls you must hike around 3 miles up river on the train tracks. Caution must be taken because trains may come and the trail is very close to the tracks. On parts of the trail you may have to walk directly on the tracks.
Bear Creek, Sacramento River. Part of the Klamath Mountain Geological Province.

From Interstate 5 take Dunsmuir Avenue north exit and turn left onto Scarlett way. Look for a noticable archway. Parking is available across the river. Southbound: From I-5 take Central Dunsmuir exit. Turn right onto Dunsmuir Avenue. Turn left onto Scarlett Way. The entrance can be easily overlooked because it appears to be a private drive into a residential area. The parking area is not big and there is no turnaround space for motorhomes.
