This site is located at River Mile 186-L, approximately 12 miles south of Hamilton City.
This 637 acre unit, located in Butte County, is owned by USFWS. The property has 323 acres of walnut and 248 acres of almond orchards, in addition to 66 acres of existing riparian habitat.
The western quarter of the site lies within the 150-year flood zone (Inner River Zone). With the exception of the eastern-most portion, this site lies within the 2Ĺ-year
The riparian habitat consists mostly of gravel bar and riparian scrub, with some mixed riparian forest and herbland cover.
Current Land Use
Almond management will be discontinued in 2005 to prepare for riparian restoration efforts. The walnuts will be maintained until restoration planning is initiated and funding secured. Anticipated opening of these areas to public use is 2009. The remaining 66 acres are located below mean high water mark and are open to the listed activities.
